We are seeking people of all ages and abilities to participate on stage during the final 15 minutes of Dancenorth’s full length feature presentation of contemporary dance show Attractor on Wednesday 21 February.
No prior dance experience is necessary and no rehearsal is needed. Attendance is required 75 minutes prior to performance commencement time.
As a Delegate Liaison volunteer, you hold all the information. Or, if you can’t answer a question, you don’t rest until you’ve found someone who can! We have delegates visiting from all over the world, and some of them will be in Brisbane for the first time. Working with APAM’s experienced delegate team your role is to warmly welcome delegates with smiling faces to our river city, and ensure that they have an enjoyable APAM experience.
Exchange / Program Assistants
Our Exchange / Program Assistants are our Front of House roles. You will be based at any of our venues – Sofitel Brisbane Central, Brisbane Powerhouse and Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC). Working under Dave Sleswick, our Exchange Producer and Madison Stevenson, our Associate Producer, some of your tasks might include ushering delegates into various performance venues, managing registrations for a particular event, or perhaps running around with a microphone facilitating Q&As.
First Nations Liaison
As a First Nations Liaison and representative of APAM, you will be looking after our special Elders and VIPs, including Aunties and Uncles from our own community of Brisbane. Working under Nancy Bamaga, our First Nations Producer, you will be immersed in the spirit of unity, through respect and reciprocity.
If you’re a Production volunteer, you’ll be working under Kylie Mitchell, our Production Manager, helping to set up venues, assisting the crew with equipment and sets, and ensuring the artists have everything they need for their showcases – logistics great and small! You will be working indoors and outdoors and will need to wear a hat and closed toe shoes.
Volunteers assigned to the Marketing Department will work across all venues throughout the five days. Sofie Ham, our Marketing Manager will welcome applications from Marketing / PR / Journalism students, or those with prior marketing / communications knowledge or experience - especially regarding social media.
If you have been assigned the role of at Volunteer HQ, you are going to be one of our key “on-calls” for Patrick Hayes, Project Coordinator, and should be prepared for anything! You could potentially be doing odd jobs around the venue for your entire shift, or, if one of our other departments is unexpectedly busy, we might need to send you straight off to step into another role. It’s exciting, fast-past and means every shift is a little bit different!
