Performing Lines facilitate, produce and tour innovative Australian performing arts to national and international audiences. Performing Lines nurture performance in Australia by recognising creativity and providing artists with access to wider audiences, thus contributing to the enhancement of a distinctly Australian culture. Performing Lines has toured 75 productions to 250 locations here and overseas. Some of its successes include Nigel Jamieson and Paul Grabowsky's The Theft of Sita, Wesley Enoch and Deborah Mailman's The 7 Stages of Grieving and Hillary Bell's Wolf Lullaby. During 2001, Performing Lines toured over 10 productions to more than 15 cities around the world. Productions include William Yang's Blood Links, which toured to New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, USA, Denmark and France; Ranters Theatre's critically acclaimed new work Roulette played the Porto Festival in Portugal and Nigel Jamieson & Paul Grabowsky's celebrated The Theft of Sita (nominated for three Helpmann Awards) was seen in Sydney, New York, London, Regional UK and Belfast. Crying In Public Places' Skin and Arena Theatre Company's multi-media hit from 2000's Adelaide Festival Eat Your Young also completed national tours. Performing Lines has a number of productions available to tour in 2002 including William Yang's new production Shadows, Kate Champion's About Face and IRAA Theatre's The Secret Room, which are all appearing as part of the Spotlight program. In addition, they will be touring La Boite Theatres' Milo's Wake for seven months across five states of Australia. Wendy Blacklock, General Manager and Karen Rodgers, Associate Producer, will both be available at the booth to provide further information about all of their productions. Performing Lines is assisted by the Commonwealth Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. |
