| Arts Victoria is the Victorian
Government's arts funding and policy body located in Melbourne, Australia.
Arts Victoria develops and manages a range of programs and initiatives aimed
at supporting artists and arts organisations. These include arts development,
regional and international touring, cultural exchange, audience development and marketing, organisation and capital infrastructure funding. Victoria is widely considered a leading centre for the arts in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. It is home to a range of performing artists and companies, both large and small, mainstream and experimental. All create a vibrant cultural landscape characterised by creative risk taking and artistic innovation. Victorian artists have been at the forefront of Australia's cultural export success over the last few years: Chunky Move Dance Company, the Australian Art Orchestra, Arena Theatre Company, Circus Oz, Bambuco, Five Angry Men, Strange Fruit, the Urban Dream Capsule, the Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Ilbijerri Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Theatre Co-operative and the Lucy Guerin Company. A number of Victorian artists/companies will showcase new work at the 5th Australian Performing Arts Market in Adelaide in 2002. These include: Neil Thomas and Katy Bowman, Kage Physical Theatre, Dislocate, Back to Back Theatre, Balletlab, Strange Fruit, IRAA Theatre, and Donna Jackson.
