An exquisite musical evening of high glamour and drama as Yorta Yorta/Dja Dja Wurung soul tidda (sister), Lou Bennett, sings and yarns her way through her amazing life. From small-town black chick playing doo-wop in her Uncle's band to the big city lights worldwide with the ragingly successful trio Tiddas, Lou's stories and divine singing are an inspiration. Bravely coming out to her family and a close-minded town to dealing with racist and sexist jaunts in pubs during performances, Lou's courage and enduring talent wins the day. This is a cabaret style show designed specifically with touring in mind.

The strength of the performance lies in Lou's extensive musical repertoire and performance experience. For years she played and toured with Tiddas, playing with the likes of Archie Roach, Ruby Hunter, Christine Anu, Bob Geldof, Arlo Gutherie, Weddings Parties Anything, Mark Seymour, Billy Bragg, Powderfinger and the legendary Jimmy Little to name but a few. This is a measure of her versatility as a world-class singer/songwriter. Recently, her performances have expanded to include theatre and stand up comedy and she stands primed to take the stage solo to provide audiences with an evening's solid and inspirational entertainment harnessing the skills she has amassed as an artist over twenty years.

Melbourne Workers Theatre
Melbourne Workers Theatre has invested in the full professional commissioning of Show Us Ya Tiddas! and has undertaken two creative developments in order to workshop the writing and performance with the artists. The work was rehearsed and performed in Melbourne in April and May 2007. As testament to the success of this work it was picked up for the Dreaming Festival theatre program in June 2007. Prior to this the MWT promoted the work at 'cyber paddock' for national touring opportunities. The production has been designed to incorporate great flexibility so that it can play in a myriad of settings, venues, international festivals and other events with a focus on touring and promoting the show to first nation countries and countries where people have experienced displacement.

MWT has 20 years experience in producing theatre and has a proven record in effectively managing arts projects.
