reform is an intimate sonic and visual journey which unfolds as audiences make their way on foot through a city at night. A live radio broadcast and performance, reform invites a small audience to follow an elite taskforce, 'the loyal citizens underground', as they attempt to become model citizens.

A radical vision of community watch gone awry, the l.c.u patrol city streets taking the moral high ground to see who else is willing and able to reform. Armed with code of conduct cards [coccs] and an overzealous enthusiasm for legislation, laws and social standards, the l.c.u discover a ripe underbelly of civil disobedience amongst unwitting night-clubbers, tourists and restaurant goers. As unflinching moral crusaders they attempt to implement their own brand of patriotic conformity - applauding good behaviour and offering neighborly advice to any wayward citizens.

Tuning in via portable fm radios and headsets, audiences find themselves on street corners, bus stops, bars and cafes witnessing the l.c.u 'on duty' and listening in to every word of advice, every misdemeanor and every random act of kindness they attempt - mixed in live with atmospheric electronica for an ideal society by pretty boy crossover. reform casts a cynical eye over the politics of public safety and the rules we live by. Presenting a not-too-fictional Orwellian vision of the future where our every move is monitored for political correctness.

pvi collective
Founded in 1998, pvi are an independent artists collective based in Perth, Western Australia. The creation of most of their artworks responds directly to a city, town or site investigating its fears, hopes and concerns about personal freedoms, often offering up darkly humorous survival tactics for living in a panoptic 21st century in the form of a creative act of intervention. pvi seek to actively engage viewers within their artwork encouraging interaction, participation and debate.

pvi were recipients of an Asialink residency in 2003. Over the past three years they have exhibited and showcased work at PICA, Plimsole gallery (Hobart), the MCA (Sydney), Performance Space (Sydney), Rawspace (Brisbane), MCA (Santiago), Mori Gallery (Sydney) and Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces (Melbourne). In 2004, the group completed a national tour of controversial new media work 'tts: australia', an artwork which investigated a rising politics of fear in relation to threats of terrorism. In 2005 they were selected for the highly prestigious primavera at the MCA in Sydney. In 2006 artists from pvi undertook a residency at IASKA [International Artspace Kellerberrin Australia] and represented Australian artist collectives as part of The South Project in Wellington, New Zealand. In 2006 the group showcased a new major work reform and presented resist as part of trans-versa, a group exhibition in Santiago, Chile. pvi's annual program of events for 2007 include exhibitions of lcu: on patrol in Sydney and panopticon: Brisbane in Brisbane and live performance works in Perth (inform) and Melbourne (reform).
