ATTENTION AUSTRALIAN ARTISTS - SPOTLIGHT APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
New Zealand artists should contact Creative NZ
Deadline 19 August 2005

SPOTLIGHT APPLICATION CRITERIA

Spotlight is the live performance showcase program for the Market. Artists and companies are selected by APAM's Executive Committee in consultation with the Australia Council and State and Territory arts agencies.

Spotlight aims to represent a balanced mix of contemporary dance, music, theatre and hybrid arts productions. It is anticipated that between 30-40 productions will be showcased in various formats.

Artists and companies may apply provided that:

  • they are a professional Australian-based performing arts artist/company (NB - Spotlight is not open to overseas companies)
  • they are available to attend APAM between 27 February – 3 March 2006 (no date restrictions)
  • the proposed production is finished and professional ie not a work in progress
  • they are in a position to consider any reasonable touring invitations that may arise from APAM
  • the proposed production is suitable for presentation as a 25 minute excerpt, can be set up in 20 minutes or less and be performed after one technical rehearsal (turnaround time is crucial given the number of companies showcasing)
  • they have a strong track record of performing in Australia and/or touring internationally
  • they have professional representation or management (NB - this representative must be a registered delegate or an On Display booth holder and in attendance throughout APAM)
  • they are able to provide high quality promotional materials (footage, photos etc)
  • they are able to meet the costs of attending APAM including travel, accommodation, freight and registration (NB - APAM provides no financial assistance or fees; check with your APAM representative at your State or Territory arts agency for details of any local assistance that might be available).

Adelaide Fringe 2006 and Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts 2006 Productions

Full-length performances presented as part of the Adelaide Fringe or the Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts are eligible to apply for Spotlight.

Works in Progress

Consideration may be given to works in progress at a number of proposed APAM ‘pitch sessions’, provided that all other Spotlight criteria are met. Preference will be given to those artists/companies with producing partners already involved.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 19 AUGUST 2005 AND APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE OUTCOME IN NOVEMBER.
